Pedestrian Safety

There are no fences or barriers between you and the streetcar, so be sure to always be aware of your surroundings and avoid distractions.

Streetcars run on their own tracks and can’t react quickly if a person is in their way. Stay streetcar safe by following these tips when walking, skating or wheeling through streetcar zones:

  • Don’t walk, run or play on the streetcar tracks.
  • Wait until traffic has stopped before crossing.
  • Always cross at crosswalks.

Remove headphones or turn volume down when near a streetcar so you can hear bells or horns.

  • Look both ways before crossing.
  • Never cross in front of a moving streetcar.

If crossing with a wheelchair, skateboard or stroller, keep all wheels on the ground.

  • Never touch the streetcar wires, poles or power stations.
  • Never touch a downed wire or anything touching it.
