How to Ride

EMBARK buses serve much of the Norman & Oklahoma City metro area. Each route’s hours of operation vary, but most Norman routes run about every 30 minutes during the weekday and every 60 minutes on Saturday.

How to Ride

  1. Arrive at the stop at least 5 minutes early. Wait at a bus stop where the operator can see you.
  2. As the bus approaches, check the sign above the front window to make sure it’s the line and destination you want. Signal the operator that you wish to board.
  3. Stay back from the curb and wait until the bus comes to a complete stop. If you need to use a boarding ramp or lift, just ask the operator.
  4. Board!
  5. If you’re standing, move toward the back so others can board. Please leave the front seats open for older adults and or persons with a disability. The operator could ask you to move to accommodate a person with that status.
  6. Along the route, major stops and intersections will be announced. If you’re not familiar with the area, you can ask the operator to announce your destination.
  7. When you want to get off, pull the bell cord or push the plastic strip near the window to request the next stop.
  8. Gather all your personal items and leave through the rear exit door.

For your Safety

  • Always follow the instructions of the operator. See Rules to Ride.
  • Never cross the street in front of a bus unless it's stopped at a red light.
  • Buses will only pick you up or let you off at designated stops.
  • Keep your kids close to make sure you don't get separated.
  • If you see suspicious behavior or a suspicious package, or if there is an emergency or unsafe situation on board, tell an EMBARK employee or call 9-1-1. See Safety & Security.
