EMBARK is seeking input from the public on the proposed OKC Moves service changes, which include modifications to Oklahoma City bus routes planned to go into effect this fall if approved by the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) Board. There are several opportunities for the public to offer feedback, including community meetings, online at embarkok.com/okcmoves, or by calling 405.235.7433 or *711.

The proposed service changes are based on recommendations from the OKC Moves Bus Study, which was conducted by nationally-recognized transit firm Nelson\Nygaard and accepted by the COTPA Board in March 2022.

“Later this year, EMBARK will launch the region’s first bus rapid transit line - RAPID NW - connecting the Northwest Expressway corridor with Downtown Oklahoma City and the greater EMBARK transit network,” said Assistant City Manager and EMBARK Administrator Jason Ferbrache. “At the same time, we’re adjusting our EMBARK bus service to fully integrate transit services to maximize our customer’s reach while improving the on-time performance and frequency of bus service, and even extending bus routes into some new areas.”

Major changes planned by EMBARK include:

Additionally, schedules of all Oklahoma City bus routes will be adjusted to improve efficiency and on-time performance. These changes will also affect EMBARK Plus paratransit service zones for individuals who are functionally unable to use fixed-route bus services. Current bus fares will not change and EMBARK will also accept public feedback on proposed fare updates including fares for the RAPID NW service.

A full summary and detailed information on the proposed OKC Moves service changes will be available beginning March 6 at www.embarkok.com/okcmoves.

A series of public outreach activities are planned for the spring and summer, including pop-up outreach events throughout the city, as well as five formal community meetings and a public hearing as required by the Federal Transit Administration. All community meetings and the public hearing will be at venues accessible by public transit.
