EMBARK and Ward 6 Councilwoman JoBeth Hamon are offering a free Bus Ride-A-Long on Sunday, Feb. 2.

The event will include a Q&A session with Councilwoman Hamon, complimentary public transportation from EMBARK and admission to Factory Obscura.

Hamon, who does not own a car, is a well-known advocate for EMBARK and public transportation.

“What I hear from people is, they want to ride the bus but they’re intimidated because they don’t know how it works, from buying fares to figuring out route maps,” Hamon said. “We want this to be an opportunity to provide some education on how to ride, as well as an opportunity for people to make connections with local civic leaders.”

The event will begin at 1 p.m. in the Plaza District, at the N.W. 16th & Kentucky Ave. bus stop. Participants will ride the bus to the downtown Transit Center, then make their way to Automobile Alley and Factory Obscura. The return trip is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Seating is limited; interested participants must register at this link by 5 p.m. on Jan. 31. [Registration closed. 01-31-2020]

“This is a great chance for new riders to learn how the system works, from someone who uses public transportation all the time,” said Jason Ferbrache, EMBARK director. “It’s been a full year since we inaugurated Sunday service for both bus and streetcar, and we want to people to see that public transportation is for everyone.”
