About Us

Spokies aims to provide riders with a healthy, affordable, eco-friendly transit option in Oklahoma City.

Spokies is Oklahoma City's only bike share program.

With 60 pedal-only bikes and 52 E-bikes, it’s an easy, accessible, and fun way to take on your daily commute, tour the city, get to and from concerts and games, or meet up with friends without dealing with parking. It’s the most affordable way to travel in and around OKC and is one of the best ways to cruise around downtown and many of the city’s most exciting neighborhoods.

Spokies aims to provide riders with a healthy, affordable, eco-friendly transit option in Oklahoma City. As a member of the EMBARK family of transit services, we aim to be world-class transportation that is accessible to all, and all want to access it.

Spokies is a service of EMBARK - a division of the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA). COTPA manages the operation, financing, improvement and maintenance of parking and the urban transportation program. COTPA, a public trust administered by the City of Oklahoma City, is responsible for providing downtown parking alternatives and safe, efficient and convenient public transportation to the citizens of the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

History

The City of Oklahoma City launched its Spokies bike share program in May 2012, at which time it was managed by Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc. The Spokies program began with an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant administered by the City of Oklahoma City’s Office of Sustainability. This grant was designed to promote energy efficiency, including alternative methods of transportation. Spokies has been part of EMBARK since August 2014. In August 2016, Spokies joined the BCycle Bike Share System, becoming part of a country-wide network with more than 15,000 bikes. In June 2019, Spokies launched Spokies DASH with the assistance of a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant supported by ACOG, Downtown OKC, Colony Partners, and Uptown 23rd.

In Spring of 2022, our fleet was converted to Drop Mobility smart bikes and expanded to include 52 E-bikes, funded by a federal TAP (Transportation Alternatives Program) grant, administered by ACOG. Additionally, 100 bike racks were purchased through a CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement) grant, also administered by ACOG.
