Private property owners may issue parking notices for violations

EMBARK is informing the public that private property owners in Oklahoma City may issue parking notices to people who park on their property without permission.

May 1, 2026

Property owners may legally restrict parking on their private property and often contract with private firms to issue violation notices. These private notices are considered a matter of private contract. The Oklahoma City Police Department does not enforce them or intervene in disputes regarding private parking lots.

These private-sector tickets may look like City of OKC parking citations. Official City parking tickets are paid directly through the Oklahoma City Municipal Court and do not include a QR code.

A list of City-owned parking options is available at embarkok.com/parking.
